Maldivian Youth Explores China's Bridge Building Expertise of CCCC

China-Maldives Collaboration: Maldivian Youth Explores China's Bridge Building Expertise in Chongqing

Jan 11, 2020

In an effort to strengthen ties and foster cultural exchange between China and the Maldives, the Chinese Embassy in the Maldives and the Maldives China Trade and Cultural Organization joined hands to organize a youth trip in December 2019. As part of this initiative, a group of 12 Maldivian youths embarked on a journey to Chongqing, China.

One of the highlights of the youth delegation's exposure trip was their visit to the headquarters of the China Communication and Construction Company (CCCC) in Chongqing. CCCC holds a significant role in the bilateral relations between China and the Maldives as they were responsible for constructing the first overseas bridge in the Maldives, the "China-Maldives Friendship Bridge."

During their visit to the main office of CCCC, the delegation was treated to educational presentations on bridge building. They were provided with valuable insights into the engineering and construction techniques employed by the company. Moreover, they received a brief introduction to both the company itself and the iconic bridge that symbolizes the friendship between China and the Maldives.

The meeting with the leaders of CCCC marked an important exchange of ideas and perspectives. The youth delegation had the opportunity to share their thoughts and experiences while also receiving guidance from the company's leaders.

As a gesture of goodwill, gifts were exchanged between the two parties, further solidifying the bonds of friendship.

The day continued with a delightful lunch where the Maldivian youths had the chance to engage in informal conversations with the company's leaders.

This provided them with a deeper understanding of the Chinese culture and an opportunity to forge meaningful connections.

To witness firsthand the expertise of CCCC in bridge construction, the youth delegation was taken on a tour to observe ongoing bridge building projects in Chongqing.

They visited four major bridge construction sites where they received brief information about the projects. The engineers accompanying them were kind enough to answer the questions posed by the curious Maldivian youths, who were eager to learn more about the intricacies of bridge construction.

This youth trip not only served as an avenue for cultural exchange but also allowed the Maldivian youths to gain insights into China's technological advancements in infrastructure development. The experience of visiting CCCC and witnessing their remarkable bridge construction projects has undoubtedly left a lasting impression on the Maldivian delegation.

The collaboration between the China Embassy in the Maldives, the Maldives China Trade and Cultural Organization, and CCCC has proven to be a successful endeavor in strengthening the bonds between the two nations. It is through such initiatives that the youth of both countries can foster mutual understanding and pave the way for a brighter future of cooperation and friendship.
